Fermentation in Wine

Fermentation is the major factor involved in all other activities that occur during wine making. A very natural process, it easily occurs on its own, but only with the presence of favorable conditions. A good winemaker makes sure that a healthy fermentation is achieved which lasts for about two to four weeks. Around the 5th to 7th day of fermentation, the first wine racking is done and the second one is usually done after the fermentation is complete.
